Daylight Saving Time. I'm updating my second clock now. So this year, unlike most years, I won't have one or more clocks that stay an hour behind for months. Well, the watch in the bathroom that I rarely use, I guess. It's probably two hours off now.

My major bastion of stability in my life right now is my motorcycle. That's beginning to bother me. I'm about to move, I'm about to switch cars, and my romantic life has been bumpy and changed a lot recently. I'm trying to get a new job. I change which groups of friends I spend time with constantly, so that's not much of an anchor. So if I'm in the mood to do something familiar that's not just about to change or go away, I grab my helmet.

I didn't realize how much having the same good apartment for three years reassured me until I could hear the countdown.

At Gaskell's, I met a guy from college that I hadn't seen in many years. The last I remember hearing about him, he was applying for a job at MetaCreations while I still worked there. That'd be about four years ago. The last time I actually *saw* him would be at least a couple of years earlier than that.

It was his first Gaskell's, and he and some friends were there in lovely rental clothes that fit the Victorian theme quite nicely.

I suppose nobody here remembers Todd Turco. But if anybody does, he's in this area these days. He lives in Sunnyvale.

CMU people. You just can't get away from them.

Many of you have heard me sing the praises of the apple pies made by the Safeway near my house. Those of you who have tasted them can bear me out on this one.

Let me add one virtue to the list: they can be transported by motorcycle, in a crowded backpack, from the store to my house. Visible damage: none.

I'm getting a big kick out of this whole "no car" thing.
