Family night got a better turnout than expected, and was fun but reasonably low-key. We're getting better at getting people to eat real food rather than all ice cream and chocolates :-) A reasonable number of folks slept over both nights, and we did okay for sleep space... Didn't even need to set the tent up!
Thanks to folks who introduced me to the game of "But Baron..." (is that what you call it?), and I'm glad I entertained. Seems like a fun and family-friendly activity, and we can always use more of those.
Saturday got an even better turnout, and people showed up significantly earlier than I'd thought. Significant hot tub time, casual nudity and fun activities with fun people made my night the best of any party so far, and I like my parties.
The pinata was an absolutely raging success, and I plan to tell stories about it for some time. My first job as a host is to get really cool people to come to the parties. You folks make it much easier!
Several things were set on fire (intentionally, like), at several different times, but the Humorous Candle Mishap is going to require higher melting-point paraffin. Still, a very good time was had by all, fire-wise.
To the several responsible people who took precautionary shifts manning the fire extinguisher and hose: thanks much, and I'm glad your role stayed precautionary rather than active.
And thanks to the two different EMTs who were present when the foot injury occurred. Yeah, it wasn't very serious... But I'm glad we had no shortage of first aid knowledge on hand, just in case it had been serious.
