Shanna's awesome
Today's "wow, she's *good* at talking!" discussion with Shanna:

Me: Are you done eating?
Shanna: I'm done with my shirt 'cause it's covered in yogurt.

I remind my readers that she isn't *quite* two years old yet, though she will be very soon. This is really pretty scary speech development. Go her!

The utterance above, while it's above her usual sentence complexity, isn't totally out there -- she certainly says things like that daily.

This is very similar to the conversation I had with Anya, daughter of Ali and Mark, just barely two at the time. She said, "I'm having pretzel sticks. Pretzel sticks are good because they're crunchy. I have seven. One... two... three... four... five... six... seven." I just stared at Mark. He just shrugged and said, "Yeah. We don't know." I asked if there was any way to special order one like her from the factory. He said not so much.

That's excellent.

Shanna can still only count to six, so she's not *quite* that advanced, but perhaps she'll get there in the next few weeks :-)

Also, a hilarious joke! I wonder if she meant it as such? My folks tell great stories of my first attempts at humor

It's hard to tell yet if she's trying to be funny at times like that. She definitely tries *some* joking, but so far nothing of quite that complexity.
