Porn sans porn? Comics sans comedy?
There's a site I found awhile back and I've mentioned to some of you before -- somebody took Photoshop, and with some work managed to remove all the people from various pornographic images. When you look at the various bland indoor settings, you can tell that something's odd, and it's obvious that it's meant to fade into the background, but you wouldn't have guessed exactly what's wrong.

There are various other cute things you can do by taking a work of art or literature and removing "the point". They vary widely in quality, as you'd expect. Many become something completely different.

With that in mind, and without further ado, Garfield Minus Garfield, for your viewing... something.

I found Garfield minus Garfield a while ago, and now that it's on my unlogged-in Yahoo page, I make a point of reading it that way. Truly an amazing experience.

My current favourite post-modern comic (as it were) is Marmaduke Explained.

I think that the comic strip without Garfield is significantly better than the real Garfield, but that's mostly because Garfield itself hasn't been funny since the Carter administration (if that recent).

i agree that Garfield's way funnier without That Darned Cat.

i hate his fat ass anyways.

Odie should kill him.

with a knife.

or a bowling ball.

and...
now that Jon's getting laid
he's not nearly as funny, either.

Odie should kill him, too.
